Little by little, this method has spread to the United States to become a staple in women's beauty routines and is gaining more and more momentum in Europe today. . So you may have heard very recently of microblading becoming so popular without knowing exactly what it was.

So what is microblading? What is the technique used? What will your eyebrows look like?

Read our article to know everything before you start!

What is microblading?

This is a method of semi-pigmentation of the eyebrow. A tattoo technique derived from "hair to hair" semi-permanent makeup that gives a restructured eyebrow line with a very natural effect.

What technique is used?

You may be wondering how this technique is different from a simple eyebrow tattoo or tinting? In reality, the microblading is done by hand and it gives a completely stunning natural effect.

The beautician will deposit pigment (ink) in the dermis using a small needle. Each pigment is added manually with a specific tool and this allows the professional to control the density, shape and color she wishes to give to the eyebrows.

Imagine small individual strokes positioned on each superficial dermis of your eyebrows. Pigment is added to the base of the epidermis of each hair which leaves the eyebrow airy.

Microblading is a mix of several techniques:

  • the technique known as "hair to hair » and which gives a very natural result by allowing to draw small lines resembling our hair.
  • the shading technique which will give a denser result by drawing a delimited outline
  • the "dotted technique » thanks to the point by point

Depending on the initial shape of your eyebrow, the beautician may use one or different techniques for the head or tail of your eyebrow. All this is to be defined with her at the beginning of the session.

How is the meeting going?

1- The personalization of the treatment and the measurement
2- The asepsis and the drawing in pencil of the area to be pigmented
3- The choice of the desired color
4- The consent
5- Pigmentation
6- Final disinfection and application of healing cream

The duration

The effects of semi-permanent makeup are about 1 year with an effect that gradually fades over time. Be aware that the color lightens between 4 to 7 days. So don't be surprised by the non-definitive effect when you leave the treatment. A touch-up is planned between 1 month and 1 month and a half to fill in any disparities in the line of your eyebrows.

As this is a tailor-made treatment adapted to your eyebrow morphology, you must plan between 2 and 2 and a half hours for your appointment.

So now is not the time to schedule a spa with the girlfriends or an intense sports session that will make you sweat. No question of spoiling the beautiful work already done.

Rates

The price of microblading is obviously much higher than that of restructuring or dyeing, but the result is worth the effort.

A year of peace of mind for perfect brows is well worth a little budget lapse. Prices can range from €250 to €500 depending on the institute. For the touch-up to be done between 9 and 12 months, this can also vary but count on average 100 to 150 €.

The eye specialist, Atelier du Sourcil offers this service for an initial price of €280.

Be sure to choose a certified institute specializing in this area before making an appointment.

Is it painful?

It all depends on your personal sensitivity, but yes the technique is somewhat painful. We feel like tingling of course but difficult to explain the sensation.

Some people are able to fall asleep during the treatment and not feel anything painful and others will tell you that it was not pleasant but quite bearable. Others will just sneeze! So you can see that this varies greatly from person to person.

Anyway, know the saying that goes:"you have to suffer to be beautiful"?

Dermo pigmentation or microblading?

Dermopigmentation is a permanent makeup technique. First performed by drawing a pencil line to restructure the shape of your eyebrow, we will then inject pigments on the surface of the epidermis up to 0.5 to 0.8 mm under the skin .

The session lasts about thirty minutes. As with microblading, the result is dark when the session ends, only to lighten a few days later. Its duration will be approximately 1 year and a half with a touch-up after 6 months.

Microblading it is a manual technique as we have seen earlier in this article. The blade of the needle used will remain on the surface between 0.2 and 0.3 mm under the skin and will be much shallower than for dermo pigmentation.
