We all dream of a perfect tan, and with the return of sunny days, we may be tempted to adopt self-tanning. This product leaves no one indifferent, we love it or not at all. Which self-tanner to choose according to your skin ?

Which type of self-tanner should I choose according to my skin tone?

Self-tanners are available in several textures. You will find it in spray, cream, oil, milk and even foam, to choose according to your preference.

There are also several types of self-tanners, to suit every skin texture . And I invite you to choose it carefully, to avoid unsightly and unnatural marks that could dull the tan of your skin.

The best indicator to rely on when choosing a self-tanner is DHA (dihydroxyacetone).

Depending on the level of DHA contained in the product, the self-tanner will be more or less dark.

  • If you have fair skin , I advise you to choose a self-tanner with a low DHA level , up to 3%.
  • If you have dark skin , you can afford a darker product, and a self-tanner up to 5% DHA .

I prefer to reserve self-tanners that have a higher DHA level, very high therefore, for the height of the season, when you are already tanned.

For a completely natural effect, I invite you to choose a progressive self-tanner. Your skin will take on its pretty tan as you apply it, such as when exposed to the sun.

If you have blemishes or blackheads on your face, I invite you to exfoliate before applying your self-tanner to avoid streaks.

Benefits of self-tanning

The self-tanner, if chosen in line with the type of skin and if it is well applied, allows you to have a nice tan all year round. If you live in an area where the sun shows little, outside the summer period, it is very appreciable.

The other advantage of self-tanning is that it allows you to tan without exposing yourself to UV rays . Because I remind you that if it is useful to expose yourself about 10 minutes a day for vitamin D and that natural light is good for morale, prolonged exposure to UV rays can be harmful to your health.

Disadvantages

Tanning, whether natural or self-tanning, does not protect against the effects of UV rays. I therefore strongly advise you not to forget the application of sunscreen to protect your skin.

Self-tanners still suffer from a bad reputation among some, for fear of unsightly orange marks. This may be the case if it is badly chosen or badly applied. However, cosmetics professionals have reviewed the formulas of their products as well as their textures.
