Menstrual Panties:What are they?

Menstrual panties are now THE period protection that all women crave. Indeed, this extra-vaginal protection is very advantageous on many points, in particular on the replacement of tampons and the menstrual cup, which promote toxic shock syndrome, but also for the practical and ecological side.

Definition of period panties

A menstrual panty or period panty is an undergarment that is worn during menstruation. Thanks to its super absorbent zone, these panties act as lingerie, but also as periodic protection . It is generally thicker than your usual lingerie (about 3mm thick), which allows it to absorb the equivalent of three tampons and can be worn for 12 hours straight.

Generally, period panties consist of three layers:

  • A cotton layer that is in contact with the skin;
  • A hyper-absorbent fabric in vegetable fiber such as Herloop period panties in particular;
  • A waterproof fabric to limit leaks and stains.

Who can use it?

Any woman can use the ruler panties, regardless of flow, age, or lingerie preference. Indeed, there is a wide range of washable menstrual lingerie that adapts to your needs.

Depending on your flow, you have three possible absorption types:

  • Light Flow
  • Average stream
  • And abundant flow.

How to use it?

Here too, you have several choices. You can use it as the only hygienic protection, or if you are afraid of leaks, you can add an additional protection. In addition, this periodic lingerie can be used day and night, and it is very comfortable and pleasant to wear.

Is there a risk of leakage?

Most period panties on the market can be worn for up to 12 hours no problem. However, it depends on your feed. This is why it is important to inquire with the chosen brand, so that it can advise you on the most suitable model for you.

What about bad smells?

This is often THE question that comes up (even before the leaks elsewhere). The question of odors, a real source of anxiety for many of us. However, rest assured, the absorbent zone is made of natural fibres (bamboo or eucalyptus) which are antibacterial, which neutralizes bad odors for 12 hours.

Also remember to wash and especially dry your period panties so that they retain their anti-odour properties.

What are the benefits of period panties?

The benefits of period panties are many, but here are a few:

  1. Soak them in cold water;
  2. Rinse until the water runs clear;
    • Wash them with a stain-removing soap (without glycerin, as this clogs the absorbent fibers);
    • Or, put them in a delicate washing machine, in a lingerie bag if possible.
