Change doesn't have to be scary—it's an opportunity to grow, says journalist Stephanie Jansen in this month's Santé. Drawing from her expertise, here are two powerful lessons to help you harness change and step into your true power. (We held these gems back from our online edition for Santé readers.)
Step Into Your Power (and Stay There)
These targeted questions, informed by real-life coaching insights, guide you to your strengths and help you flow with life's changes.
• What am I good at?
Identify your talents realistically. Recognize manifest qualities others see and value (often overlooked by you—ask for feedback); latent ones ready to develop; and semi-latent traits you use selectively due to circumstances.
• Am I doing the right things?
You thrive when using your strengths fully and nurturing your talents. Reflect: Is your energy directed where it matters most?
• What can I influence?
Not everything is controllable. Releasing what isn't prevents frustration and powerlessness—focus on your circle of influence for lasting strength.
Ground Yourself Firmly
True power starts with being rooted. This proven relaxation and visualization exercise, used by wellness experts, anchors you:
Sit comfortably in a chair, feet flat on the floor, legs together, arms relaxed in your lap. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Scan for tension, note body contact with chair and floor. Observe thoughts without judgment. Focus on your feet: Imagine roots extending deep into the earth, anchoring you like a tree. Release negative energy downward into the ground. On each inhale, draw up positive earth energy through your feet and legs, filling your body completely.
