Hydroquinone, a proven pigment inhibitor, is another option. Dr. Stok recommends: "Hydroquinone cream or triple therapy (with tretinoin and corticosteroid) for optimal results."
At-home glycolic acid or enzyme peels work for superficial spots. Deeper pigmentation may require professional chemical peels like TCA, laser therapy, IPL, or cryotherapy. Dr. Stok explains: "Treatment choice depends on spot type; all carry minor risks like color changes or new spots. Camouflage by a skin therapist is the safest."
TCA Peeling: Trichloroacetic acid removes the top skin layer, promoting renewal. Expect shedding and mild burning; multiple sessions needed. Average cost: €100.
