New Study: Shopping Triggers Brain Highs as Intense as Sex

A groundbreaking study reveals that shopping can be as stimulating and exciting as sex. Researchers analyzed the physiological effects on the human brain, demonstrating how "inspired shopping" delivers long-lasting highs comparable to sexual intercourse. By examining gamma brainwaves linked to extreme pleasure, they categorized shoppers as "inspired shoppers," who buy clothes to feel good, versus "Shop-y-cats," who shop to fit in.

Strikingly, 84% of "inspired shoppers" reported a "buyer high" at checkout—akin to a Formula 1 driver conquering a track—and twice as many as "Shop-y-cats." Meanwhile, "Shop-y-cat" shoppers experienced exhaustion, with mental fatigue rising cumulatively by 30% every ten minutes.
