Breathe easy! From #LoveYourLines ("Love your stretch marks") to the unfiltered "real life" bodies of The Expose and We.WOMEN, plus anti-guilt online campaigns, initiatives have surged lately to help women embrace their bodies and silence insecurities.
The latest gem? #ThighReading, spotlighting everyday women's thighs—round or slender, dimpled with cellulite, etched with stretch marks, sometimes hairy (we're not always perfectly shaved beyond Photoshop fantasies), and bearing scars. And it's truly beautiful!
Started on Twitter by @princess_labia, who shared a photo of her scarred thigh and urged others to follow suit, the hashtag exploded with images rejecting rigid beauty norms and showcasing what real women look like.
Smart move for brands too: Portraying women authentically drives results. Proof? U.S. lingerie brand Aerie saw sales rise 10% after its unretouched photo campaign. Take note!
