Self-tanner:a veil of sunshine on your skin… all year round

Why use a self-tanner?

A few years ago, self-tanners had a bad reputation. But their cosmetic formulas have been modified. They leave today a tanned and almost natural skin. You can even find pleasantly scented products. Monoi, chocolate, coconut… So many invitations to travel! But in addition to giving the illusion of having spent the afternoon in the sun, they also hydrate the skin. To compensate for skin dryness, they contain moisturizing agents such as argan oil or shea butter. And you no longer need to be a pro to get flawless results. You can also prepare your skin just before by exfoliating so that the self-tanner is even.

How does self-tanning work?

No more orange complexion, self-tanners are much more natural today than a few years ago. Composed of DHA (dihydroxyacetone) – this molecule which reacts on contact with the skin and creates the famous tan – they adapt to each skin tone. Indeed, the laboratories have worked on a process to change color according to the pH of the skin. After applying the product, it gradually melts to reveal a natural tan. This effect takes longer to work, but it gives the illusion of having spent your weekend in the sun by the pool!

What are the different types of self-tanners?

With self-tanning, no danger on the horizon! If the sun's rays are good for morale, they are bad for the skin when abused. UV rays are harmful to the epidermis and cause premature aging of tissues, not to mention sunburn for white skin... So to look good, bet on self-tanning products instead. Thanks to their new composition, they no longer make the complexion orange. No more demarcations and traces! You can easily find your happiness in the cosmetic departments of parapharmacies. For an easy and quick application, opt for the spray version. It is ideal for the legs and the body. If you have more time, choose a cream product. It is also possible to apply a self-tanning oil. It will easily glide on the skin and moisturize at the same time. Finally, there are products designed specifically for the face. They have a slightly different composition to adapt to the more sensitive skin of the face.

What price for a good self-tanner?

There are self-tanners for all budgets. Be aware that the price is not necessarily a guarantee of quality. It is always important to read the composition of the product carefully and to avoid silicones and parabens as much as possible. Count around 40 euros for a tinted water for the face and 30 euros for a tanning milk for the body. There are also foundations with sun-drenched formulas to give the illusion of returning from vacation.
