Which hairstyle for which result?

To give a wet effect:gel

His job. It fixes the hairstyle while giving it a wet effect (depending on the amount applied). It is used to shape a short cut or to flatten the hair back. Good to know:once the gel is on, you can't touch it.

I use it. On dry or wet hair (easier to apply), apply it to the hairline, then comb it to distribute it or work it in with your finger.

We like:Extreme Splash Wet Domination, L'Oréal Professionnel, €17.45.

For a “back from the beach” effect:salt spray

His job. Thanks to the salt, it copies the wavy effect obtained after swimming at the beach:the hair is textured and mattified. It can also help to hold a hairstyle.

I use it. We spray it on dry or wet hair (the result is lighter), without putting too much, otherwise it can make packages. Then style with your finger.

We like:Spray de la Mer Coiffé Décoiffé, Dessange, €7.50.

To add volume or create curls:mousse

His job. The foam formulation has two uses (indicated on the product):sheath and give volume or help define curls.

I use it. Always on wet hair. We fill the palm of the hand with product that we distribute with a comb from the roots to obtain volume or just on the lengths if you want curls. We dry the hair upside down (it activates the product), defining the curls with your finger.

We like:Structuring Mousse, Nioxin, €27.90.

To fix:lacquer

His job. It fixes the hairstyle (in a more or less light way), without it being seen or felt to the touch. The lacquer is removed with a brush stroke.

I use it. Always on dry hair. We squeeze it 20-30 cm from the hair and we keep a light hand to avoid the packets (we can always put it back!).

We like:Pro Expert Volume Hairspray, Franck Provost, €6.

To treat and discipline:the cream

His job. It is the only styling that hydrates the fiber. It coats the hair and tames frizz. Be careful, it can weigh down fine hair.

I use it. Distribute a dab of product in your hands and apply it to the lengths, on dry or wet hair (in this case, dry the hair).

We like:Smooth Infusion Nourishing Styling Cream, Aveda, €33.

To texturize:wax

His job. It gives body to the hair without fixing, sheaths and makes the fiber shine. It is recommended for short haircuts, as it can weigh down long hair.

I use it. A dab of wax is heated in the palm of the hand. It is distributed by passing the hand through the hair with a "caress", without touching the roots.

We like:Wax Top Coat Styliste Ultîme, Schwarzkopf, €5.50.

To gain mass:powder

His job. It coats, texturizes and helps gain mass, visually and to the touch.

I use it. Two possibilities:either you sprinkle it on the root, upside down, or place it in the palm of your hand and massage the scalp (more moderate result because it is more localized). We do not brush, we work the hair with the finger.

We like:Height Riser Volumizing Powder, Matrix, €9.95.
