Each year, as the holiday season approaches, Elle unveils its prestigious list of the best-dressed and most distinguished women across media and beyond. This year's ranking includes a dedicated "style and politics" section, where Michelle Obama earned the crown—despite Carla Bruni topping a similar list from Vanity Fair.

Nathalie Rykiel, president of this year's jury, praised Michelle Obama as a woman who "is unlike anyone." She added, "She encourages young designers. She dares, she takes risks." The panel placed Carla Bruni second, citing her "lack of imagination and audacity."
