On H&M's Saudi Arabia website, the images differ from the French version. Select shots of the Brazilian supermodel have been modestly adjusted—such as adding accessories or layering—to respect stricter guidelines on visible skin, avoiding any potential offense to local audiences. "For some markets, which are more strict about the amount of skin we can show, we have chosen to add accessories to the images," H&M's international management explained to Liberation.
These alterations appear on sites for Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. In contrast, Tunisia and Lebanon feature the original unedited photos.
