How Plastic Surgery Boosted My Confidence: My Eyelid Correction Journey

Plastic surgery is becoming more accepted, yet a lingering taboo persists. Why? Whether you approve or not, it's unfair to judge. Many men and women opt for procedures to address insecurities or enhance self-confidence. That's their choice.

How would you respond if a loved one wanted plastic surgery?

Which body part would you change if you could? Would you consider a cosmetic procedure yourself, or are you opposed? And if a close friend or family member brought it up? I get it—some lack the funds, or the idea of surgery feels daunting. Both concerns are valid.

But the taboo baffles me. Isn't it a personal decision?

Self-acceptance vs. going under the knife?

Self-acceptance is ideal, but not always straightforward. If a loved one sought labia correction for a 'designer' look from magazines, I'd be skeptical. But if deep insecurity causes daily distress? That's worth discussing openly—at least for me.

If a procedure boosts confidence alongside aesthetics—like ear or labia corrections—it's a compelling factor. Plastic surgery isn't a cure-all, but open conversations are essential, no matter how tough.

My own confidence boost from eyelid surgery

I know firsthand. Four years ago, I had drooping eyelids corrected. I blogged extensively about my 'eyelid correction before and after.' The lead-up was nerve-wracking; it took years to overcome judgments like 'vain' or 'superficial.' Yet, mirror glances daily reminded me of the issue.

Today, I'm thrilled. I look more rested and youthful, with genuine confidence gains. I feel better seeing my reflection and can't recall my pre-surgery eyes. They'd likely sag more now.

You might find it surprising, but it's real. If choosing another area, I'd smooth my mouth grooves—but I'm not ready yet. The future? Not ruled out.

Have you considered plastic surgery? What would you change, and what's holding you back?
