Sustainability brings me genuine joy. As individuals, we're growing more aware of our role in protecting the environment—through steps like solar panels and waste separation. But what about the plastic piling up in your bathroom? How many eco-friendly products do you use there? We're steadily making changes, discovering shampoo bars and natural deodorant along the way. And we're loving it!

I'll admit, convincing the kids to embrace these sustainable bathroom products took some effort. They're all for the environment, but old habits die hard. After years of liquid shower gels and shampoos from plastic bottles, our teens were skeptical when I introduced Paper & Boo's solid bars.
It's ironic—soap bars were once the norm, yet we've normalized single-use plastic that's harmful to the planet. I firmly believe shampoo bars and natural deodorant should be everyday essentials, like turning off lights or closing doors. Habits worth building, right?
We've switched to natural, vegan shampoo bars and body bars. I've also ditched spray deodorants for a solid alternative. These choices benefit our skin, health, and the environment—kickstarting a greener bathroom routine.
The deodorant is 100% natural and spreadable: scoop a pea-sized amount with your finger and apply under your arms post-shower. It doesn't stop sweating but neutralizes odor-causing bacteria, unlike conventional deodorants that merely mask smells.
We use the body bars directly by hand, or pop them in a soap bag for exfoliation and storage.
Our shampoo bars and natural deodorant are from Paper & Boo.
I chose the lavender shampoo bar for its anti-dandruff properties. While I don't struggle with it, my husband sometimes does. Conventional anti-dandruff shampoos offer temporary relief without addressing root causes. This natural version is gentle yet effective on the scalp. I prefer the honey variant—ideal for curly, frizzy hair, providing deep nourishment and moisture.
Using a shampoo bar feels different at first, but it's simple: wet your hair, rub the bar directly on it, or lather between your palms first. Both methods work beautifully.
I've also adopted reusable cotton pads made from bamboo and cotton. Toss them in a wash bag with your laundry—they're machine-washable. Did you know we go through about 1,500 cotton pads per person annually? These are softer on my skin and slash waste dramatically, just like the shampoo bars.
Next up: bamboo swabs—I forgot those last order! 😊
Beyond the products themselves, Paper & Boo's packaging is 100% biodegradable and recycled cardboard—a true step forward.
The bamboo soap dishes are sold out, unfortunately. They extend the life of bars by allowing them to dry properly and add a stylish touch to any bathroom. If you're ready for plastic-free bathroom upgrades, I highly recommend these. Do you already use natural hand soaps or shampoo bars?
