French Lingerie Preferences: Insights from Ipsos Survey at International Lingerie Show

According to a recent Ipsos survey conducted for the Salon International de la Lingerie, French women and men reveal distinct preferences in underwear choices. Surprising? Not entirely.

The study surveyed 1,099 individuals aged 16 and older to uncover expectations around lingerie. Key takeaway: just 1% purchase it more than once a month, suggesting underwear isn't yet viewed as an essential buy for most French people.

Preferences align more closely than expected. Women prioritize comfort over sexiness, with 80% agreeing. For materials, 64% favor cotton panties, thongs, and briefs over lace—proving cotton can be alluring too.

Men lean toward sexier options, with 56% preferring naughty lingerie compared to 44% of women. Whether genuine taste or a bid to please, it's a positive shift.

Lingerie ties into romantic life too. Among women, 22% opt for sexy styles when single versus 19% when partnered—hinting singles might embrace their naughty side more.
