How to choose the right trench

The right details for choosing a trench coat

The trench may seem unique, it is not:there is not one model, but hundreds, displaying tiny variations of details that change everything. Before choosing your coat, review the essentials!

The collar

Depending on the model, it can be more or less imposing. Reserve large collars with narrow shoulders and small chests, favor discreet collars with a generous chest. The undercollar may also have some fashion details, such as a strap or a contrasting lining, remember to check!

The belt

Essential to the look of the trench coat, the belt allows you to refine the waist and close the coat to insulate from the wind. Choose it rather fine for the thin ones, wide for the round ones. Also check that it is long enough to be looped, but also tied in front or in the back in different ways.

The lining

While most trench coats are lined, some go further, opting for a printed lining. An effective fashion detail but which should not block you in the choice of your outfit! Other models offer a removable lining, allowing you to transform a light trench into a warm trench. The lining will not replace the winter coat, but can prolong the use of the trench by several months.

The fold of ease

Some trench coats provide a pleat in the back, in order to gain comfort and mobility. For a coat worn daily or chosen with a fitted line, control its presence:you will move more freely and avoid cracking the seams when stretching.

Choose a trench coat according to your morphology

To choose the trench that suits you, balance both length and volume:bring volume to the shoulders or hips, mark the waist or, on the contrary, free it!

The trench coat for curvy people

To highlight a generous silhouette, choose a trench coat with a wide belt to mark the waist:if you have a thin waist, tie it in front, otherwise tie it in the back, to artificially bend the trench coat without tightening you. With a generous chest, avoid imposing collars. Are your hips wider than your shoulders? Opt for a model with well-defined shoulders to rebalance the volume. Favor, in passing, the pockets placed almost vertically, and accompany them with heeled shoes to refine the silhouette!

The trench coat for slim girls

Featherweight and small size, no question of disappearing under the trench! With a small chest or narrow shoulders, bet on wide collars to flesh out the silhouette. Opt for short trenches if you are petite, long for tall ones, with very slanted pockets. Also remember to belt your trench coat to gain volume. Your size is not marked, your shapes little drawn? No matter ! Belt and blouse, the optical illusion takes care of the rest.
