How to properly perform your pedicure?

A good pedicure starts with good tools

In your special pedicure beauty kit, the necessary tools consist of various files, pumice stone, suitable graters (avoid if possible metal ones which can damage the feet), nail clippers, cuticle pushers and concave nail nippers. These accessories are essential to carry out a neat job and are dedicated to you:ironing them with friends is out of the question. Always clean them thoroughly after each use.

Soaking:the basis of an effective pedicure

Before any action on your feet and nails, a foot bath is essential to prepare them for treatment. After having removed any varnish from your nails and cleaned your feet, immerse them in a basin filled with hot water:the foot bath will act as an emollient which will soften the skin of your feet and that around your nails. Take the opportunity to treat yourself to a moment of relaxation by adding ten drops of essential oil of lavender (for its antiseptic properties), peppermint (for a refreshing and relaxing effect) or lemon (which will help whiten the nails). Let your feet soak for about fifteen minutes before moving on.

Sanding and scrubbing:for soft feet

Sanding the hardest and roughest areas of the feet will smooth the skin of the soles, heels and big toe which are the areas of the foot most affected by calluses. After having dried your feet well, gently pass a pumice stone or a suitable file without forcing too much to avoid injuring yourself. Once this step has been completed, use a scrub whose fine grains will allow you to exfoliate and eliminate dead skin. You can choose a store-bought scrub or make a homemade one by mixing a tablespoon of honey with a tablespoon of fine sugar.

Cut, file, push back:to the rescue of nails

The most delicate phase, taking care of the nails. Use a cuticle pusher (the same as for the manicure) to free up a larger nail surface, make it more aesthetic and help its growth. Cut your nails to the desired length then gently run the file over the surface of the nail to smooth it. Apply a coat of clear varnish to protect the nails if you want to varnish them afterwards.

Hydration:the finish of the pedicure

Once the care is finished on your feet, remember to moisturize them well using a specific cream:do not hesitate to use a body cream if necessary. In order to act in depth for the softness of your feet, remember to put on a pair of cotton socks over your moisturizer:one night with this treatment and you will find very soft feet the next morning. If the pedicure is not a daily act, hydration must be part of your daily ritual to enjoy the effects of these treatments for longer.
