How to make your own shampoo?

Why make your own shampoo?

Faced with the multitude of shampoos, conditioners and masks available on the market, many consumers are turning to homemade products! But why waste time, when all you have to do is reach out your hand to choose your bottle full of shampoo? First of all, homemade treatments are mainly composed of natural products:essential oils, vegetable oils, neutral cleansing bases, ingredients of vegetable origin. This method of preparation thus makes it possible to obtain organic and natural care, unlike the majority of products available in supermarkets. Indeed, most shampoos contain silicones, parabens and sulfates. Even when you buy your products in pharmacies, it is always important to read the composition carefully. Generally, homemade products do not contain artificial colors or preservatives:a plus for women who want natural care for the whole family!

What ingredients should be used to make your shampoo?

If you want to make your homemade shampoo, you must first know the nature of your hair to adapt the ingredients. The recipe will necessarily be different if you have fine hair that gets greasy very quickly, or if you have curly hair with dry ends. To help you, you can turn to specialized sites or seek advice from your nearest pharmacy to find certain ingredients. But you don't have to go far to find the basis for a good natural shampoo. Just open your refrigerator to take an egg, for example! The latter is indeed effective in soothing damaged hair. Baking soda is also used to clean the hair fiber, and “no poo” supporters love it! White vinegar is also used to make hair shiny. Some essential oils also have their specificities:ylang-ylang oil is ideal for colored hair, while two drops of Bay St Thomas stimulate growth.

Recipe idea for a homemade shampoo

To make your first homemade shampoo, start by buying a neutral cleansing base. Then, add essential oils according to the nature of your hair. Be careful, it is important to respect the doses! Essential oil is a very concentrated product, you should not have a heavy hand. After pouring a few drops of the essential oil of your choice (tea tree to purify, or lavender to bring softness), add vegetable oil:olive oil is very nourishing, like oil avocado and jojoba. Castor oil is effective in stimulating hair growth. You can then add a little plant hydrosol. These different steps will allow you to achieve a natural treatment. You are then free to add other products (fragrance, vitamins, natural coloring, etc.).
