A h, Sunday, June 21 is Father's Day. According to a survey by Van Gils Parfums, dads overwhelmingly prefer homemade gifts from their children (61 percent), followed closely by a quality scent (31 percent).
More than 80 percent of Dutch people recognize that the third Sunday in June celebrates fathers. Families with young children are especially likely to mark the occasion, though over 30 percent of respondents view extra spoiling on this day as unnecessary.
Children intuitively know how to delight their dads. Nearly half (46 percent) receive handmade items from school or nursery—often from fathers of younger kids—while 36 percent enjoy perfume or aftershave.
Over 90 percent of Dutch respondents report that the financial crisis has not impacted their Father's Day spending. In fact, 10 percent of men plan to invest even more in a gift for their father this year.
