Why Black Clothing Can Make You Look Older: Insights from Color Experts

Black clothing may slim your silhouette, but it's no miracle cure. In reality, it often makes you appear older.

Color experts note that darker hues highlight facial wrinkles and blemishes. Dark circles under the eyes and a sagging chin stand out more against black fabric.

"Black clothes bring out the worst in your face," clothing expert Jules Standisch told NY Daily. She explains that only one in five women has skin resilient enough to wear black without it detracting from their appearance.

Imperfections like wrinkles and dark circles are most noticeable when fabric sits close to the face, such as turtlenecks or high-collar jackets. Opt for a colorful scarf to counteract the aging effect, or choose low-neck styles to minimize emphasis on facial flaws.
