Glitter lips, the trend continues

Glitter lips have dominated social media, and brands are now offering dedicated products. From my experience, they shine brightest on well-prepped, smooth lips—think of it as highlighting your best features without overwhelming.

I tested sets from trusted brands to share real insights. First up: Make-up Studio's Gorgeous Glitter Lips.

Gorgeous Glitter Lips

After three attempts with this kit, I removed it each time. The gold shade didn't suit me, though it photographs beautifully. Start with the sticky nude lipstick base for adhesion—essential for glitter hold. However, it can make lips feel exposed and teeth appear yellower due to low contrast. Pro tip: Opt for nudes that match your skin tone closely.

Apply glitter generously; thin layers dull the effect. Here's my best result so far.

I'm eyeing the Pink Raspberry or Red GL for their pigmented base. Order yours here.

Max Factor in combination with Gorgeous Glitter Lips

Switching bases, I layered Max Factor Lipfinity—a long-wear favorite that lasts all day. Its quick-dry formula demands fast glitter application, but the pigmented undertone prevents a 'naked' look. The result? Wearable glitter lips I confidently wore to dinner.

Glitter lips with Jane Iredale

Jane Iredale's Champagne on Ice Kit delivers subtle shimmer with skincare benefits. Organic oils and lotus extract hydrate and soothe lips.

The trio includes:

  • You Go to My Head (gold shimmer)
  • Lovely Bubbles (clear iridescent)
  • Lips on Crystal (fuchsia with gold hint)

I swatched all three: Gold was least flattering for me, Lovely Bubbles gives a silvery pop when layered, and Lips on Crystal is my top pick. Note: Despite claims, it's slightly tacky for adhesion.
