High Heels Boost Women's Attractiveness and Confidence, Study Finds – But Health Risks Loom Large

British researchers have uncovered compelling evidence that high heels enhance women's appeal to both men and women. Nearly two-thirds of businesswomen report feeling more attractive, with gains in self-esteem, confidence, and overall well-being. Men are almost twice as likely to smile at women in heels compared to flats and more inclined to offer help, underscoring the shoes' power to draw positive male attention and elevate self-image.

However, these academics caution that high heels carry significant health drawbacks, including back pain, broken ankles, sprains, and more than double the risk of bunions. Wearers face injuries from toes to spine and heightened fall risks. The researchers advocate for stricter laws to protect women from mandatory heel-wearing at work, amid rising complaints from affected professionals.
