Myth Busted: Cold Water Doesn't Make Hair Shinier – Science Proves Hot Water Wins

It's a common shampoo ritual: summoning the courage for a final cold-water rinse to strengthen and shine your hair. But is it effective? Researchers at TRI Princeton, an independent lab in New Jersey, have debunked this belief. Their study, reported by Elle Australia, reveals cold water offers no special benefits for hair.

Hot Water Delivers Superior Results

To reach this conclusion, the team compared rinses at 36°C and 18°C. Results showed cold water was less effective at removing scalp dirt than warm water. Surprisingly, warmer rinses enhanced hair shine. Keep in mind, shampoo choice and daily care routines play a bigger role in overall hair health.

Relieved? You can skip the chilly shock without guilt.
