With New Year's resolutions fresh in mind, how's your recycling routine? Glass bottles go straight into the container, cardboard and paper into the yellow bin. Electrical appliances pose a bigger challenge—in fact, 1 in 2 French households has an unused one gathering dust. Hair styling tools? They're often forgotten entirely. Until now, options were limited to drop-offs at stores like Darty or Boulanger, or local recycling centers. ghd is changing that with the first dedicated recycling program for electric styling tools, running about 4 months from January 7, 2019.
Head to participating ghd partner salons to drop off straighteners, curling irons, hair dryers, heated brushes, or straightening brushes—any brand, in any condition. In return, receive a discount on a new ghd tool. Salons collect the devices and feed them into professional recycling streams. Consider a hair dryer: 48% of its plastic is reused in concealed car parts; 22% ferrous metals (like from the motor) are 100% recycled for construction fittings; 18% non-ferrous metals go fully recycled into auto components and cables. The remaining 12% (electronic boards, regulated substances, and plastic or rubber waste) is treated or recovered. Your styling tools deserve a second (or third!) life—participate now!
