Clean your styling tools

You often forget to clean your hairbrush, hair dryer and straightener, while a lot of dirt can accumulate there.

A dirty brush causes dull hair Hairs get stuck in your brush, but also dust, dander and leftovers from styling products. By combing your hair with a dirty brush, all these leftovers can get back into your hair, making your hair look dull.

Hairstylist Marriët Gakes gives tips on how to best clean your styling tools.

Your hair dryer
Much better hair dryers can be opened at the back. Clean the filter once every six months to extend the life of your hair dryer.

Your hairbrush
Get rid of all hairs on your brush regularly. You can do this by hand, but also by placing a coarse brush in the comb so that you remove all the hairs in one movement. You can also put the brush in a bath with baby shampoo to remove dirt.

Hair straightener
To clean the straightener, dampen a towel, set the straightener at a low temperature and 'bite' it into the damp towel. Then dry the straightener in the same way with a dry towel.
