Gwénaëlle's Detox Beauty Routine: Revitalize Skin, Hair, and Body for Winter Glow

For me, the new year signals renewal—a perfect time to nurture my body, skin, and hair. A targeted beauty detox recharges my energy and helps me transition smoothly into winter.

A Detox for Glowing, Purified Skin

Nothing beats a detox for healthy, radiant skin. With my combination skin that's sensitive and prone to occasional breakouts, I start with a thorough triple cleanse. I remove makeup using a gentle oil like apricot, sesame, or baobab. My current favorites are the Cème Purity Recipe Cleansing Oil—ultra-gentle, effective even on eyes, with a delightful scent—and the Baobab and Vanilla Cleansing Balm from Evolve Beauty, which has a luxurious, warming texture that comforts without stripping. Next, I follow with a mild cleansing gel and a konjac sponge for a clean, clear finish.

Detox means exfoliation and masks too! I swear by the Savon Stories Face Scrub with argan powder and detoxifying essential oils like verbena, neroli, and clary sage. Mixed with nigella or argan oil, it leaves skin ultra-soft, luminous, and plump. Then, the Madara Purifying Detox Mask with clay and lavender floral water deep-cleanses and tightens pores. I leave it on for 5-10 minutes, rinse, and proceed to moisturize.

A Detox Routine for Shiny, Strong Hair

Hair deserves detox love too, especially mine—colored and in need of shine and strength. Weekly, I apply a neutral henna hair mask to purify the scalp, enhance color, and fortify strands. Mix neutral henna powder with hot water, apply to roots and lengths, cover with a hot towel for 20-40 minutes, then shampoo. The results are transformative! While it processes, I sip a detox tea as part of my ritual.

Body Wellness and Invigoration

Twice weekly, I exfoliate with Maison Meunier Coffee Exfoliation for velvety, firm skin. Body oils are my relaxation ritual; I love My Huilette Bodysuit from Les Huilettes for its psycho-sensory essential oils. The natural scents de-stress me—applied post-run, grapefruit drains while shiitake firms. Newly discovered: You &Oil Anti-Stress Complex, a blend I rub on wrists and solar plexus multiple times daily to calm my natural anxiety.

Detox-Boosting Foods

Diet is key to detox. As a vegetarian, I prioritize fruits, veggies, and hydration, plus superfoods like spirulina and chia. My go-to: ginger-honey-lemon infusions for antioxidants and stress relief. Fresh juices shine too—like my "orange glow" blend of 2 carrots, turmeric, ginger, and 1 lemon via extractor.

Essential Emotional Detox

Emotions impact the body, so mental detox matters. Rest, read, run, or walk to clear your mind. My favorite: an "Enjoy list" of daily positives to focus on joy and refresh the spirit. Try it!

Make detox pleasurable: blend beauty rituals, nourishing eats, and mind-cleansing activities like meditation, sports, or fresh air. Choose what works for you!
