Why Smooth, Glowing Skin Outshines Symmetry in Attractiveness, Per Scientific Research

Got smooth skin? You're fortunate. Research on human attractiveness reveals that it's not facial symmetry, but radiant, even skin that most influences how appealing someone appears.

We've long believed symmetry determines beauty. However, this study demonstrates that skin condition is the key factor in perceived attractiveness.

Participants in the experiment quickly averted their gaze from faces with uneven skin. Scientists explain that even, glowing skin is strongly associated with good health.

For the study, researchers photographed 170 women's faces, ages 10 to 70, varying only the skin quality. Among 430 raters assessing attractiveness, those with the smoothest skin received the highest scores.
