The holiday season is the perfect excuse for women to experiment boldly with makeup. Men, on the other hand, often prefer a more understated approach.
Research conducted by Dutch drugstore chain Etos, surveying 500 women and 500 men, reveals stark differences in party makeup preferences. A majority of women opt for eye-catching makeup during Christmas 2020, while most men favor their partners' everyday style.
Festive Indulgence
This year, women are spending an average of €39 on beauty products and accessories for the holidays. They feel sexiest with perfectly styled hair (46%) or super festive makeup (10%).
Notable: Women dedicate just seven extra minutes to their routine during the holidays. Popular additions include smoky eyes, blush, and glitter in the hair. Many also treat themselves to manicures, new outfits, and hair salon visits.
Men Keep It Simple
Men are easily pleased with their partner's festive look. Over a quarter find their partner beautiful on regular days and prefer no changes for the holidays. Only 11% desire sexy clothes, high heels, and flawless makeup for Christmas 2020. More than 20% would rather receive more attention from their partner than see elaborate primping.
