Does Makeup Really Boost Confidence? Study Shows Camouflaging It Doesn t Help Insecure Skin

Camouflaging makeup fails to enhance women's self-confidence, according to American researchers. Many women struggle with deep insecurities about their skin that makeup simply can't address.

73 women took part in the study, 66 of whom used makeup to conceal pimples, scars, and pigmentation. Just seven never wore makeup. The findings revealed that women who apply makeup are far more likely to feel insecure about their skin than those who don't—regardless of their actual skin condition.

The greater their fear of others noticing imperfections, the unhealthier these women felt. Researchers conclude that women who skip makeup already feel more at ease in their own skin than those who rely on it.
