A striking 78.4% of Dutch women report feeling insecure about their bodies on the beach, compared to 62.8% of men. Interestingly, men rate their own beach bodies highly at an average of 6.8 out of 10 and give women a 6.7. Women, however, are far more critical, scoring themselves just 5.7 and men at 5.8. These insights come from the comprehensive Beach & Body survey conducted by Dresscode.nl, polling 1,438 Dutch men and women.
Both genders cite excess weight as the top source of beach-related anxiety, with 57.5% of insecure women and 36.4% of insecure men pointing to it. Women also frequently mention cellulite and stretch marks, while men worry about lacking defined abs or being underweight in swimwear.
Insecurity varies significantly by age. Men aged 31-40 are the most confident, with 47.4% feeling satisfied in beachwear. In contrast, only 14.3% of women in the same age group feel at ease.
