Nearly 60% of Dutch Women Feel Insecure in Swimwear: Key Insights from The Sting Survey

A recent swimwear survey by The Sting reveals that nearly 60% of Dutch women feel insecure in swimwear. Dutch women rate themselves an average of just 5.9 out of 10, while other women see them as more attractive at 6.6. Men rate Dutch women in swimwear even higher, at an average of 6.9. Dutch men, by contrast, show greater self-assurance, scoring themselves 6.6—a full point above the 5.8 other men assign them.

The study also explored how relationship status influences confidence. Dutch people in relationships feel more assured, with 63% reporting confidence in swimwear. Singles lag behind at 54.3%—a nearly 10% gap. Both single men and women feel less secure than their partnered peers.

Despite these insecurities, Dutch vacationers confidently wear swimwear for more than just swimming and sunbathing. Activities include eating, drinking, partying, and flirting. Remarkably, almost 20% stick to swimwear even for sightseeing or shopping.
