Women Feel More Beautiful During Christmas: Insights from Etos Survey

During the holiday season, women report feeling significantly more beautiful than on an average day. They rate their appearance a solid 6.8 on a normal day but boost it to an impressive 8.1 during Christmas.

Party Makeup Trials
In the lead-up to the holidays, women prioritize their look. A quarter start experimenting with new party makeup 1 to 4 weeks in advance, while one in five begins preparations for their holiday look 2 to 7 days early. This comes from a recent Etos survey on holiday beauty trends among Dutch women, a leading Dutch beauty retailer with deep expertise in consumer preferences.

Dutch women invest real effort into holiday prep. On average, they spend 30 minutes in front of the mirror getting ready for Christmas—twice the 15 minutes typical for a regular day. For New Year's Eve, it's a close 22 minutes at the dressing table.

Top Beauty Trends
Christmas offers the perfect chance to try fresh beauty looks. The smokey eye tops the list at 28%, followed closely by glitter powder to highlight the cleavage and gloss spray for hair.

Creating the Perfect Smokey Eye

Women shared what makes them feel extra glamorous during the holidays: 75% cited flawless makeup, while the same percentage highlighted smelling great and having perfectly styled hair for that chic vibe.

Common Beauty Challenges
Holiday beauty isn't without hurdles. Most women dread a bad hair day during Christmas. The ultimate nightmare? A pimple on the face (24%), followed by a botched hair color (10%).
