What grade would you give your own teeth? A recent survey reveals that the average Dutch person rates theirs a solid 6.9.
That said, dental issues are common—94% of respondents report occasional problems, with cavities being the top concern.
Brushing habits
Half of those surveyed use an electric toothbrush exclusively. One in five alternates between electric and manual, while the rest stick to manual brushing. For enhanced care, toothpicks top the list, followed by floss, mouthwash, and interdental brushes.
Before or after dinner?
Dentists advise waiting at least an hour after eating before brushing to protect enamel. If that's not feasible, brushing beforehand is preferable. Yet, 87% brush right after meals.
Breath freshness
Most participants aren't concerned about their own breath—only 13% feel it's less than fresh. Nearly everyone agrees bad breath is something to avoid at all costs.
Dentist visits
Maintaining healthy teeth is a priority: 65% visit the dentist twice yearly as recommended, while a quarter go annually.
