Web editor Shirley takes on Santé's no-wash hair challenge for a week. Day 4 is proving tougher than expected.
Shirley: My hair still looks decent, but it's feeling greasy to me already. On the train to work, I'm racking my brain for ways to bow out gracefully. I just pulled my winter coat from storage—can't risk staining the collar right away, right? That's a weak excuse, even for me.
Considering a switch to low-poo?
Low-poo might suit me better. Fans of this approach wash infrequently using natural alternatives like baking soda, apple cider vinegar, or white clay instead of traditional shampoo. Should I swing by the store after work? Once at the office, a colleague gives me an unexpected boost: 'Day four already? You can't even tell!'
Bonus challenge
There's an extra hurdle: I have a habit of running my fingers through my hair. Today, I'm fighting it to avoid spreading more oil.
Can I stick it out?
I'm starting to feel self-conscious about my hair. Should've scheduled a stay-home week for this. Got tips for managing oily hair during a no-wash challenge? Share on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Trying a Santé challenge? Post with #santechallenge.
