It's been six months since my upper eyelid surgery corrected my drooping eyelids. I was incredibly nervous beforehand—more anxious than for my first kiss! 😊

Shortly after my procedure, I shared a detailed blog post on my upper eyelid surgery journey, complete with before-and-after photos. Beyond images—which are plentiful online—I wanted to share the full story from start to finish.
Why? I searched extensively for real patient experiences but found mostly clinic info. Reading more stories like mine might have eased my nerves. If you're dealing with droopy eyelids or bags under your eyes and hesitating about surgery, check out that post. Grab a coffee—it's thorough!
To see the transformation, view the photos above. Note: I traveled to Kliniek Veldhoven without makeup for the pre-op shot. Post-surgery makeup? It would have been hidden under my old eyelids anyway.
Half a year later, time has flown. My surgery update received heartwarming responses—many from people considering the same step. Sharing wasn't easy, especially unflattering photos, but it helped others. I've fielded numerous emails from those weighing options, and several have since had their drooping eyelids corrected.
Take my brother, 14 years my senior. His success story motivated me—his eyelids hung so low it was uncomfortable. Unlike me, it affected him physically more than emotionally. He had his done in a hospital.
Options abound for upper eyelid surgery. I chose Kliniek Veldhoven—just 30 minutes away—and couldn't be happier. If you're not in Brabant, seek reputable local clinics for personalized advice.
My brother opted for a hospital, where insurance might cover it (mine didn't, so I chose freely). I guided him through his prep—far less detailed than mine. Rules like no contacts or makeup for three weeks felt strict then, but I'm grateful now: better safe than sorry.
A friend had hers at her GP and is pleased. While GPs can perform it, I preferred a specialist for my drooping eyelids.
At my final check-up, the surgeon was delighted—as was I from week two! 😛 Improvement continued: puffiness after poor sleep or wine resolved quickly, signaling healing.
Scars are invisible now—remarkable! Early redness in my left eye faded completely. I used scar cream diligently and still wear sunglasses in the sun to protect the area.
I'm thrilled with my decision. No regrets, despite initial shock post-op. Seeing the before-and-after difference? Priceless—I have my eyes back!
How do you view plastic surgery? If overhanging eyelids bother you, what's holding you back?
