Master Defined Curls with Hair Plopping: The Proven No-Heat Technique

Got curly or wavy hair but wake up to frizzy knots every morning? Hair plopping is the expert-recommended method for achieving beautifully defined, voluminous curls without heat damage. This simple technique dries your hair while enhancing its natural shape, using just a cotton T-shirt or microfiber towel that absorbs moisture quickly.

How to Hair Plop Step by Step

1/ After shampooing, detangle your hair with curl-enhancing products or a leave-in conditioner. Gently squeeze out excess water until it's no longer dripping.

2/ Lay a large cotton T-shirt flat on a surface. Flip your head upside down and place the roots of your hair in the center of the shirt. Lean forward gently until your head nearly touches the fabric to help form your curls' natural shape.

3/ Without lifting your head, gather the bottom of the T-shirt and wrap the sides behind your neck. Then, bring the top edge back to your neck. Position the sleeves on either side of your head and tie them into a knot at the front, creating a turban-like wrap.

4/ Leave it on while you go about your day. Drying time varies by hair length and type. Once dry or nearly dry, remove the T-shirt to reveal stunning curls!

For faster results without compromising your hair, try it overnight (secure it snugly), use a diffuser through the fabric, or opt for a microfiber towel instead of a T-shirt.
