Marionnaud's Beauty Product Recycling Program: A Step Toward Sustainability

We recently highlighted the 'Keskistri in the bathroom' campaign, revealing that beauty products are among the least sorted items by the French. While 86% practice daily selective sorting, only 50% recycle plastic jars and tubes, 41% perfume bottles, and just 21% of women sort nail polish and empty makeup products. With 47.6 million perfume bottles and 440 million makeup and skincare items sold annually in France, these stats are alarming.

Marionnaud is taking action to promote sorting and recycling. Since April 11, 2016, customers can return empty beauty products—including nail polish, cream jars and tubes, lipsticks, eyeliners, makeup palettes, perfume bottles, and mascaras—to any Marionnaud store. The retailer recycles all glass bottles and converts plastic containers into energy. Recycling 1,000 glass bottles saves 104 kg of CO2 (equivalent to 329 kWh of energy)—a significant environmental win.

No need for Marionnaud purchases: the program accepts products from any brand, fostering a culture of responsible recycling. Plus, you'll be rewarded—a 20% instant discount on skincare, makeup, or salon services, and 25 loyalty points (on purchases over €10). Eco-friendly choices have never been more rewarding.
