Night peels:how does it work?

This is one of the major skincare trends of recent months:night peels are THE product to integrate into our routine to have even more beautiful skin. But concretely, what is it? Inspired by the peel practiced by aesthetic doctors, the homemade peel is formulated with AHAs – generally glycolic acid – and allows the removal of several layers of dead skin cells (much more than a manual scrub). The difference with the medical act? The concentration of the product in acids, much lower than that used by the doctor, which translates into less impressive results, but still very visible (since you can remove up to 10 layers of dead cells). As the applications progress, the skin is really brighter, smoother and the pores are less visible.

Use in cure

The homemade peel is used in the evening, because glycolic acid is photosensitizing, which means it should not be used in the sun. There are several galenics for the peel:in a cream, in a serum, in a lotion, in a mask… We always want to respect the right gestures and the right dose. On application, it may tingle, that's normal! However, if the skin becomes very red and itchy, the formula is probably too active for us (peels are not recommended for sensitive skin), so rinse immediately and stop using. We absolutely avoid applying a peel on sensitized skin, pimples or sunburn. The next day, apply a treatment containing sun protection (SPF 15 minimum). Good to know:you should not use a peel all year round, at the risk of sensitizing the epidermis. Instead, one-month cures are planned, several times a year.
