Unpaid Turkish Workers' Desperate Pleas Found Sewn into Zara Clothing Tags

Shoppers at a Zara store in Istanbul, Turkey, discovered clothing tags bearing shocking warning messages from unpaid factory workers.

The labels featured a stark message: "I made the item you are about to buy but I have not been paid for it."

These pleas came from employees at Bravo Tekstil, a textile factory that closed abruptly on July 25, 2016, leaving workers without jobs or pay. The facility supplied garments to Zara, Mango, and Next.

One tag demanded: "Tell Zara to pay us."

The workers elaborated: "We haven't received our last three months' wages or our seniority bonuses. The factory was shut down overnight. Please tell Zara to pay us."

This echoes past incidents, like 2014 when Primark shoppers found tags reading "Forced to work long hours."
