As beauty experts backed by brands like My Little Box and MAC, we've analyzed a survey of 2,000 women revealing common makeup habits. Shockingly, 2 in 5 women never wash their makeup brushes—a habit that breeds bacteria and triggers skin irritation. Even more concerning: 1 in 3 skip makeup removal before bed, leaving residues that dull sheets and pores alike.
During lockdowns, 70% of women paused their makeup routines, with 10% still opting out. If choosing just one product, 66% pick mascara, followed by lipstick at 15%.
This survey also uncovered barriers to bold makeup looks: 30% fear FOMO (fear of missing out), 27% don't know where to start, 20% worry about others' judgments, and 9% cite time shortages.
When asked 'How do you feel wearing makeup?', 40% reported feeling bolder, 29% in a good mood, 15% more like themselves, and 9% invisible. On timing, 53% take about 10 minutes for makeup; 20% manage in 2 minutes, 15% need 20 minutes, and 9% spend 30 minutes.
