Dove Delights 12,000 Dutch Women with Street Compliments in Real Beauty Push

Only 1% of Dutch women consider themselves beautiful. Beauty brand Dove is on a mission to change that mindset.

Dove hit the streets yesterday, complimenting 12,000 women on their beauty as a playful finale to the 'What I Find So Beautiful About... You' campaign. Since launching its Real Beauty initiative in 2004, Dove has championed authentic beauty. Recently, it urged Dutch women to compliment each other via www.watikzomooivindaan.nl.

The campaign aims to boost positive self-esteem among Dutch women, responding to Dove's global Real Beauty research revealing that just 1% view themselves as beautiful.

Strikingly critical of themselves, women are far kinder to their friends. The research highlights self-criticism as the biggest barrier to embracing personal beauty.

In late April, Dove launched the two-year 'What I Love About...' platform, featuring activities to encourage women to celebrate each other's unique qualities.
